What is nimble?
Nimble is a uniquely Irish social networking website. Nimble currently has more than 118,000 members in Ireland and is growing day by day. It is an important and significant part of the day for many of these people.
About online social networking
Social networking is the relatively new method by which people maintain relationships on the web. It is a sociological phenomenon which is here to stay as all mature internet markets have them. Users are able to set up their own webpage, meet friends, play games, read jokes, upload and share pictures, write blogs, share internet links and much more. Web 2.0, the next generation of web creation is all about people sharing and contributing rather than owning and displaying information. Bebo, Face book, MySpace and many others have attracted millions of users across the globe – but not specifically Irish and not targeted or target-able. Nimble does that.
How Nimble Started
The founder, Per Jacobsson, grew up in Sweden where social networking websites were a part of life and a natural way of socializing with friends. Since social networking has been present there since 1996 the founder has used social networking websites himself for a long time and has as a result has a very good knowledge of how they work.
Nimble is the culmination of Per’s lifelong goal, starting as a hobby at first, in an attempt to bring together all the good things from other social networking websites. Nimble is now on the way to becoming a sophisticated and successful player in the industry. Having finished an Msc in Business & Entrepreneurship, Mr Jacobsson started the construction of the website in 2006 and established Nimble Communications Limited.
The company has since attracted venture capital investors to fund the website through a development program culminating in full commercialization.
